In keeping with Laneway's commitment to supporting the best new music, Laneway Festival is very proud to announce the winners of this year’s triple j Unearthed competition.
Each of the bands below will be appearing at their hometown rendition of Laneway Festival in 2016, joining the likes of Flume, Violent Soho, Beach House, Grimes and more. Previous winners include Ali Barter, Client Liaison, Bad//Dreems and many others that have gone on to do great things.
Introduce yourself to each of the new additions below:
THE HARD ACHES (SA)
Electrifying duo THE HARD ACHES will be repping the SA punk scene at Laneway Festival Adelaide. The fellas dropped their first full-length Pheromones this year on local punk label Anchorhead, and are renowned for their no-holds-barred live shows. If you haven’t already seen them in your mate’s backyard or a packed, sweaty living room, listen here before seeing them at Laneway.
GOOD BOY (QLD)
Queensland good boys Tom, Rian and Stu join us for Laneway Festival Brisbane. GOOD BOY was first introduced to us with their sunny indie-rock tunes ‘Waste Days or Ease Your Temper’ and ‘Transparency’ which have gathered an impressive amount of attention across radio stations and music sites around the world. Crack open a tinny and get familiar with the boys here.
Harry, Jane, Hewett & Mark are ADKOB. Having spent 2015 writing, recording and turning heads with their debut EP ‘A Different Kind Of Busy’, these four are ready to blow you away with their clever take on lo-fi indie-pop. What started as a bedroom project for frontman Mark, ADKOB’s fuzzy, jangly, sample-strewn tunes will be kicking things off at Laneway Festival Sydney.
Melbourne-based collective ESESE AKA ‘Eastern Seaboard Electric Soul Ensemble’ will open the festival in Melbourne in 2016. Together as a group of rappers, vocalists, musicians, producers, videographers, the crew will bring a refreshing taste of electro-soul-hip-hop to your summer. Check out their impressive debut EP ‘Act 1: Hancoq’, out now.
Perth punters will be treated to the cinematic post-rock of four piece FAIT. With a critically acclaimed EP to their name and with ambient guitar wizard Elise Higgins at the helm, Fait have had a big year including appearances at RTRFM’s In The Pines and Bigsound as well as a debut national tour.
